I've learned so many valuable things from culinary school so far, but one of my favorite things I've taken away is the perfect smoothie ratio.
It's been a lot of trial and error at home, and while I've suffered through some less-than-ideal creations in the name of good health, I narrowed my process to two delicious, probiotic-rich smoothies. One I'll call Mango Tango (haha, very original), and the other I'll call the Purple Probiotic Princess (Triple P).
Without further ado, here's how you can make both in your nutribullet.
Tip: these recipes also work great for a blender, just multiply ingredients by the number of people being served. For example, 4 people would need 4 cups of mango, etc.
Mango Tango
Ingredients (Makes 1 Serving):
2/3 cup plain kefir
2 tsp ground turmeric
2 tbsp chia seeds
Honey (to taste)
1 cup frozen mango
Filtered water
Instructions:
1. Place ingredients in nutribullet in the following order: kefir, turmeric, chia seeds, honey, and mango.
2. Fill the rest of nutribullet to the top with filtered water.
3. Screw the lid on and shake thoroughly until the ingredients are doused with water. This will make it easier for ingredients to blend.
4. Blend ingredients for 60 seconds or until smooth. If the blender gets stuck, pause the blender, manually shake again, and pulse. Repeat the process until everything is blended.
5. Once blended, add more water or more frozen mango to thicken or loosen the consistency to your liking. If the smoothie is already perfect, serve and enjoy.
Purple Probiotic Princess (Triple P)
Ingredients (Makes 1 Serving):
2/3 cup plain kefir
1/3 cup coconut milk
2 tbsp chia seeds
Maple syrup (to taste)
1 /3 cup frozen pineapple
1/3 cup frozen strawberries
1/3 cup frozen blueberries
Instructions:
1. Place ingredients in nutribullet in the following order: kefir, coconut milk, chia seeds, maple syrup, pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries.
5. Once blended, add more water or more frozen fruit to thicken or loosen the consistency to your liking. If the smoothie is already perfect, serve and enjoy.
